We stand together, the Makuleke way.

THE 90s is a society for Makuleke community members. When someone passes on — a parent, a brother or sister, a child — the society stands with that family and helps carry the cost of the funeral. Register, verify your email, and once an administrator approves you, contribute in rand through a secure hosted checkout — every contribution carries its own reference and a receipt.

  • Verified members only
  • Secure ZAR checkout
  • Receipt after confirmation

How the society works

One shared pool, run by the community, that stands with a family when someone passes on — whether it is a parent, a sibling or a child. Every step is recorded and every rand traceable.

Register and verify

Tell us who you are and how you are connected to the Makuleke community. We send a verification link to your email address — your application only moves forward once that link is confirmed.

Administrator approval

New applications sit at Pending Approval until an authorised administrator reviews them. Administrators can also suspend or revoke a membership when the organisation's rules require it.

Contribute securely

Approved members enter a contribution amount in rand and pay on the payment provider's own secure checkout page. We never see or store your card details.

Contribution amounts are set by the committee, not by this website. There is no fixed amount published here. Authorised administrators configure the contribution rules in the administration dashboard, and members see the current instructions when they sign in.

Why we are called THE 90s

THE 90s is named for the decade the Makuleke community started this society — the years of boomboxes, cassettes and neighbours who stood together for school fees, for celebrations, and above all for each other when someone passed on. The music changed; the promise did not.

Today the same group keeps the same discipline, with a modern record behind it: every member verified, every rand traceable, every receipt issued only once the money is confirmed.

Membership is for the Makuleke community

THE 90s exists for people with a real connection to the Makuleke community. Registration is open, but access to the members' area and to contributions is not automatic.

  • Full name — as it should appear on your contribution records.
  • Email address — we send a verification link here before anything else happens.
  • Phone number — so the committee can reach you about your membership.
  • Your connection to the community — a short explanation of your family, village or role in the Makuleke area.

New applications start as Pending Approval

By registering you consent to THE 90s holding your name, email address, phone number and community connection for membership administration. You can ask for your account and personal details to be deleted at any time. Only administrators see applications; only treasurers and administrators see contribution records.

Inside the members' area

Once your membership is approved you get your own private dashboard. Nobody else can see your contribution records — not other members, not the public.

Contribution instructions

The current contribution rules, set by the committee, with the amount field in South African rand and a unique reference generated for each contribution you start.

Payment history

Every contribution you have made, with its reference, date and amount, and a receipt you can download — issued only once the payment provider has confirmed the money on our server.

Chairperson of THE 90s

Chairperson · Committee

The chairperson leads the committee that runs THE 90s. They open and close meetings, keep the group's rules in order, and are the person who signs off on how the pool is managed.

“Every rand in this pool belongs to a family in our community. We keep the records straight so that trust stays where it belongs — with each other.”

  • Leads committee meetings and the annual general meeting.
  • Reviews and approves new membership applications.
  • Signs off on contribution rules and payouts with the treasurer.
  • Represents THE 90s in the Makuleke community and beyond.

Money handled properly

Community savings only work when the records are honest. Here is how THE 90s protects the pool and your information.

Confirmed on our server

A payment is only marked successful when the payment provider's verified webhook tells our server so. A browser redirect alone never releases a receipt, and duplicate webhook deliveries are ignored so no contribution is counted twice.

No card data, ever

You pay on the payment provider's own hosted checkout. THE 90s never stores card numbers, CVVs, banking passwords or gateway secret keys — not in the database, not in your browser.

Private financial records

Members can only see their own contributions. Financial records are restricted to authorised treasurers and administrators, and every financial change is written to an audit trail.

Test mode until the committee says go

The contribution flow runs in the payment gateway's test mode while the organisation's merchant account is being approved and the flow is being tested end to end.

Live payments are switched on only after the committee explicitly approves the launch — and only once the gateway credentials are in place. That approval step is yours to give.

Become a verified member of THE 90s

Registration is open to anyone with a real connection to the Makuleke community. Complete the form, confirm your email address, and an administrator will review your application by hand.

Registration form

Everything below is needed before your application can be reviewed. Take your time with the last field — it is the one the committee reads most closely.

  • Full name — exactly as it should appear on your contribution records and receipts.
  • Email address — the verification link is sent here, and it is how you sign in later.
  • Phone number — so the committee can reach you about your application.
  • Your connection to the community — your family, village or role in the Makuleke area.

By registering you consent to THE 90s holding your name, email address, phone number and community connection for membership administration. You can ask for your account and personal details to be deleted at any time. Only administrators see applications; only treasurers and administrators see contribution records.

Verify your email address

Your application does not move forward until you confirm that the email address belongs to you.

We send you a link

As soon as your registration is received, a verification link goes to the email address you gave us. It is valid for a limited time, so open it while it is fresh.

You confirm it is you

Click the link and your email address is marked as verified. Unverified applications stay on hold and are never passed to an administrator for review.

Nothing to pay to verify

Verification is free and takes a moment. THE 90s will never ask you for card details, banking passwords or a payment to confirm your email address.

Link not in your inbox? Check your spam or promotions folder first, then send the committee a message from the contact section and we will resend it. If you mistyped your address, tell us and we will correct it before you verify.

Pending Approval — what that status means

Once your email is verified, your application sits at Pending Approval. This is normal and it is not a rejection. It means a person, not a script, is reading what you sent.

An authorised administrator reviews your details against the organisation's rules. They may approve you, ask for more information, or decline the application. Administrators can also suspend or revoke a membership later if the organisation's rules require it.

  • You cannot sign in to the members' area while your status is Pending Approval.
  • No contribution can be made, and no money is taken, before you are approved.
  • You will be told the outcome by email at the address you verified.
  • If your details change while you wait, message the committee so your application stays accurate.

Staying connected to the community

THE 90s is not an app you join and forget. It is a group of neighbours and relatives who already know each other, and membership keeps you part of that circle even when you are away from home.

Once you are approved you can reach the committee directly, receive notices about meetings and contribution rounds, and follow the group's announcements. Members who live outside the Makuleke area keep their place in the pool and their records in the members' area.

  • Email — membership@the90s-makuleke.co.za for applications, references and receipts.
  • Where we meet — Makuleke Community Hall, Makuleke, Limpopo, South Africa.
  • Your own records — contributions, references, statuses and receipts stay private to you.

Questions about your application?

Whether you are stuck on the form, waiting on verification or wondering about your Pending Approval status, the committee would rather hear from you than have you guess.

Before you write to us

Most questions are answered by the three steps above: register, verify your email, then wait for an administrator. If your application has been sitting at Pending Approval for a while, include the email address you registered with and the date you applied — it helps the committee find your application quickly.

Never send card numbers, CVVs or banking passwords by email or WhatsApp. THE 90s does not need them and will never ask for them.

Your private members' area

Once an administrator has approved you, this is where you sign in. See the committee's current contribution instructions, pay securely in rand on the payment provider's own checkout, and keep every reference, status and receipt in one place.

Contributing in rand

The committee sets the amount and the round. You pay on the payment provider's hosted checkout — THE 90s never sees or stores your card details.

Read the instructions

Your dashboard shows the current contribution amount, the round it belongs to and the date it is due. Amounts are set by the committee, never by this website, and they change from round to round — always work from what your dashboard shows today.

Pay on hosted checkout

Choose the amount and you are taken to the payment provider's own secure page to pay in South African rand by card. The checkout is theirs, not ours: the card number is entered on their page and never touches THE 90s.

Wait for confirmation

Coming back from the checkout is not proof of payment. Your contribution is only marked successful when the payment provider's verified notification reaches our server. If it does not arrive, the contribution stays pending and no receipt is issued.

Keep your reference

Every contribution gets its own reference. Quote it when you speak to the committee, and use it to match your payment to the round it belongs to. Duplicate notifications from the provider are ignored, so a contribution is never counted twice.

Test mode until the committee says go. The contribution flow runs in the payment gateway's test mode while the organisation's merchant account is approved and the flow is tested end to end. Live payments are switched on only after the committee explicitly approves the launch.

Your contribution history

Every contribution you make is listed in your dashboard with the date, the amount, the round it belongs to and the reference. Nothing is hidden and nothing is edited after the fact — if a record changes, the change is written to an audit trail.

Members can only ever see their own contributions. Financial records are restricted to authorised treasurers and administrators, so your neighbours cannot see what you have paid and you cannot see theirs.

  • Date and round — when you paid and which contribution round it settled.
  • Amount and reference — the rand amount and the unique reference for that payment.
  • Status — pending, successful, failed, refunded or disputed, exactly as the provider reported it.
  • Receipt — available to download once the payment is confirmed by our server.

Your history and receipts stay in your account — download them whenever you need them.

What each status means

A contribution is never guessed at. It carries the status the payment provider reported, and it stays that way until the provider tells us otherwise.

Pending

Waiting on the provider

You have started a payment but the provider has not confirmed it yet. No money has been released to the pool and no receipt is issued. If it stays pending, the payment did not complete — you can try again.

Successful

Confirmed by verified webhook

The provider's verified notification reached our server, so the contribution is counted and your receipt becomes available. A browser redirect on its own never produces this status.

Failed

No money taken

The payment did not go through. Nothing was deducted from your card and nothing is owed. You can retry the contribution whenever you are ready.

Tracked

Refunded or disputed

A refund or a dispute is recorded against the original contribution and reconciled by the treasurer. Your history shows the change rather than hiding it, so the record stays honest.

A secure online card checkout on a laptop screen
Payment happens on the provider's hosted page — card details never reach THE 90s.

Receipts you can rely on

A receipt is issued only after our server has confirmed the payment. It carries your name, the amount in rand, the round, the reference and the date, and it stays available in your dashboard for as long as you are a member.

If you need a receipt for a round that has already closed, or you believe a receipt is missing, quote the reference and the date to the committee and they will trace it against the provider's records.

Need help with your account?

Locked out, a contribution stuck on pending, a receipt you cannot find, or a reference that does not look right — the committee would rather hear from you than have you guess.

Include the email address you registered with, the reference of the contribution in question and the date it was made. That is usually enough for the committee to find the record straight away.
